“I hired Melanie as a virtual assistant to help with a variety of time-consuming tasks that were difficult for us to complete. In one ongoing project, she takes raw data and puts it into a variety of spreadsheets. Her knowledge of Excel is outstanding. She also performs initial phone interviews with prospective employees, helping us narrow our choices. MAD Typing and Consulting has been a God-send for us and takes care of administrative tasks that either never get done or don’t get done in a timely manner. And the best thing is that MAD always gets the job done by our deadlines. We like MAD so much that we’re looking for more that they can do for us. Melanie is professional, punctual and a person of the highest integrity.”
A new division of MAD Typing and Consulting born from a desire to provide new Virtual Assistants with the material they need to successfully start, operate and grow their own businesses, AND the personal and professional support all new small-business owners need along the way - from people who have walked a mile or two in their shoes. Established in 2002, MAD Typing and Consulting (MAD) has become one of the premier Virtual Assistance services in the US. Led by President and Chief Virtual Officer, Melanie O'Kane, MAD has assisted busy professionals from across the country and shown them the more economical, practical alternative to hiring staff they can't afford, using expensive temporary services, and doing it themselves.
MAD Typing and Consulting works with small-business owners, busy professionals, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit organizations as their go-to service for administrative support, desktop publishing, Website design, and writing project administration. Melanie O'Kane brings over twenty years of professional experience and has worked with all levels of management, with all kinds of personalities, on all kinds of projects, managing all kinds of priorities, and with varying levels of confidential material.
In January 2008, Melanie had the honor of being featured in BusinessWatch magazine (Do You Need a VA? All about virtual assistants, by Zaher Karp), and was tapped as a resource for writing the article as well.
In October, 2008, Melanie launched Mel's Lemonade Stand, a new division of MAD Typing and Consulting with the mission of "... [assisting] US-based administrative professionals start, successfully operate, and grow their own home-based virtual assistance businesses, through personal and professional support, networking, education and professional development opportunities; and joined a new, local venture, the Wisconsin Virtual Assistant Network.
And finally, the answer to everyone's question: "Where did you come up with the MAD in MAD Typing and Consulting?" Answer: When I started my business in 2002, those were my initials. Later, when my initials changed, I kept the "MAD," because the city in which we're headquartered (Madison, Wisconsin) is commonly referred to as "Mad Town" or "Mad City." Thus, the MAD continued to make sense and be part of the business name.
If you would like to find out more about how MAD Tying and Consulting may be of assistance to you, please contact Melanie O'Kane.
